The Day Ahead

President Trump's 500 days of American greatness

Historic achievements underscore President Trump's 500th day in office. Since January of last year, President Trump has strengthened American leadership, security, prosperity, and accountability. The results speak for themselves, both domestically and on the world stage.

The U.S. economy is booming. Nearly 3 million jobs have been created since President Trump took office, with manufacturing and construction job growth at their highest marks in nearly a decade. Unemployment has dropped to 3.8 percent—its lowest level since the beginning of the 21st century.

America's communities are safer. Despite limited resources and obstruction from Congress, President Trump has worked to take control of our border and enforce our immigration laws. The Administration has cracked down on the import and distribution of illegal drugs, and it worked with Central American partners to file charges against 4,000 members of MS-13 in 2017 alone.

The United States is winning once again abroad. America has worked with international allies to decimate ISIS, and the President's leadership has contributed to the return of 17 Americans held overseas.

A letter from Kim Jong Un

On Friday, a senior North Korean official traveled to the White House. After meetings with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in New York, Vice Chairman Kim Yong Chol delivered a letter to President Trump from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un regarding a planned summit June 12 in Singapore.

"June 12th, we'll be in Singapore. It will be a beginning. I don't say and I've never said it happens in one meeting," President Trump said. "This was a very good meeting. Don't forget, this was a meeting where a letter was given to me by Kim Jong Un, and that letter was a very nice letter."
