Yesterday, I was honored to speak at the National Convention for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States in Kansas City. As President, I am committed to honoring the brave men and women of our Armed Forces by providing them with the resources they were promised. Robert Wilkie, confirmed by the Senate on Monday as the next Secretary of the Department of Veteran Affairs, shares that same commitment. Together, we will implement initiatives that ensure our Nation’s veterans receive the care they deserve. Recently, I signed into law the VA MISSION Act of 2018. This important legislation provides $5.2 billion in funding for the Veterans Choice program and will consolidate care programs, streamline essential resources, remove barriers to telemedicine and mobile deployment teams, and create new initiatives to build on and improve veterans’ care.
