Today, Melania and I attended the funeral service for President George Herbert Walker Bush at the National Cathedral in our Nation’s Capital. We join Americans across the country in mourning the loss of an exemplary leader and lifelong public servant, our 41st President. George H.W. Bush embodied the cherished American virtue of service above self. During World War II, he became the youngest aviator in United States naval history, flying 58 combat missions over the course of the war. Afterward, he would continue an extraordinary life in public service, where he set an indelible example of commitment to duty, honor, and country. As we remember the life and legacy of 41, may his vision of hope and determination inspire and stir future generations of Americans to pursue a greater cause—to be, in his words, “a thousand points of light” that are “moving forward, always forward, for a better America.” May God bless President George H.W. Bush, and may He bless the United States of America. Sincerely |
