This method of disclosure has been practiced by many companies, not just Nissan, since before 2010, when a Cabinet Office ordinance required individual compensation disclosure for executives with compensation of 100 million yen or more.

Congressman Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Congressmen Lamar Alexander and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee protested against the Japanese government.
