More small business history

Small businesses are a key driver of our economy. When they succeed, so does America. More than 99 percent of U.S. businesses are small businesses, and they employ a full 48 percent of the American workforce.

Last month, the Trump Boom put small businesses on the cusp of yet another economic record. Small business owner optimism hit a 35-year high in July—just one-tenth of a point shy of the highest level in the survey’s 45-year history. The all-time record was achieved in July 1983 during the height of the Reagan Revolution.

Much like Reagan, President Donald J. Trump is shattering old assumptions about America’s economy. The result is a golden age for small businesses, SBA Administrator Linda McMahon writes. “The unemployment rate is a healthy 4 percent, with more Americans entering the job market . . . And for the first time on record, there are more job openings than unemployed people looking for work.”

What the Trump Boom means, in the words of small business owners

We are not backing down’

When President Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) yesterday, he accomplished four important things: delivering on a pledge to rebuild our Military, honoring a commitment to put Service Members and their families first, ensuring America is ready to defend against the threats of today and tomorrow, and funding critical operations with our allies.

The National Defense Authorization Act is the most significant investment in our military and our warfighters in modern history,” the President said at yesterday’s signing at Fort Drum in New York. “After years of devastating cuts, we’re now rebuilding our military like we never have before, ever.”

Echoing the words of Gen. George Patton, President Trump said America should never just “hold its position”—it should always be advancing. “America is on the move once again, and we are not backing down.”
